Today is my mom's birthday. It's really hard being away from home on both my birthday and her birthday this year. We won't even get to talk to her today because she won't be home when we are at home. That is going to be really hard. I know that she will have a good day, but we really wish we could be there to be with her. Happy Birthday Mom =) Love you so much!
Yesterday was a pretty normal day. Went to school, came home, ate lunch, and took a nap. School went by really slow. We have three classes a day. We have conversation class from 9am-11am with Alvero and I really enjoy that. The second class we have is grammar from 11am-1pm with Paqui, which is the most boring of all of our classes because we're just going over a lot of stuff we have already learned. Our last class of the day is audio (listening to tapes and answering questions) which is with Esther and I really enjoy that class too.
After we woke up from our nap we met some friends at the ISA office at 5:30 to go shopping. Lauren and I got there a little early so we went and got ice cream (more specifically gelato). It was our first time having gelato since we've been here and it was probably one of the most delicious cups of ice cream that I have ever had. It's really different from regular ice cream, but SO good! Lauren got mango and I got tarte de crema (which was like strawberry cheesecake, my favorite). It was way better than ColdStone ice cream, which is really saying a lot.
After that we walked to a mall inside of the train station that's about 15 minutes away. It was really cool. They had H&M and a lot of other cool stores. We also went to a store called Corte Ingles which is like a 5 story department store which is comparable to like Macy's, Younker's, and Sears all combined. It was sweet. I didn't end up buying anything, but we may have to go back there for a swimsuit that I really wanted =) haha
After shopping we came home and ate spaghetti with this alfredo like sauce that carmen made, it was fantastic! We have been getting lots of homework so after dinner we had to do homework and then went to bed.
Today school went by faster which was good. The week is actually flying by. After our first class we decided to go to a pasteleria (bakery) during our 20 minute break with some of our friends. They had the most delicious donuts there! Seriously beats out any donut that I've ever had, AMAZING. Plus, they were really cheap, we got 3 for 1 euro, which is a steal. Lauren got a really cool huge heart shaped donut and I got one that was similar to a custard filled long john with chocolate on top, but it was quite a bit different than a donut in the U.S. We loved them tho. After eating them we felt sick to our stomachs and had to go back to class haha.
Today when we got home from school Carmen had made us Salmon and vegetables for lunch. Usually I can handle eating fish, but since I've been here I have had a really hard time making myself eat the fish. It's either really fishy tasting like salmon, or really bland. I can't do it. haha. Carmen is an awesome cook, I'm just not a fan of the fish.
Now Lauren and I are just sitting around resting until about 4:45 when we will head out to meet our group for a tour of the Alcazaba, a moorish palace here in Malaga. We're really excited to see it and have heard a lot about it. I'll post pictures at a later time.
Abrazos y Besos
